Picture This On Granite is proud to have been chosen as a selected Vendor and partner in the manufacturing and installation of this Gold Star Families Memorial Granite Monument, located in Albany, New York, United States.

The projects currently include the creation and implementation of Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments throughout the country. Soon there will be one of these Monuments in each State of the US. The original monument was established at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, in Dunbar, WV in 2013. Picture This On Granite has helped design, build and install a 5th and 6th Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Tampa, FL and Fairfield, OH, Boscawen, NH and soon, Phoenix, AZ.

What is a Gold Star Family?

A Gold Star family is the title, which is reserved for families of military members who have died in the line of duty. It is meant to honor the service member’s ultimate sacrifice while acknowledging their family’s loss, grief and continued healing.

The organization dates back to WWI, when military families displayed service flags featuring a blue star for every immediate family member serving in the Armed Forces. Individual military family members who lost a loved one also started to be referred to as “Gold Star Wives,” “Gold Star Mothers,” and so on.
