From Concept to Reality

Picture This On Granite is proud to have been chosen as a selected Vendor and Partner in the design, manufacturing and installation of this beautiful Veterans Memorial Park, located on The Village Green in Summit, NJ.

The projects were spearheaded by Rick Wolffe and Henry Bassman of the Summit Elks Lodge and the Summit American Legion Post. Originally the plan was to restore a deteriorating WW2, Korean and Vietnam Memorial, located in the Park. After further inspection, it was determined that there was no saving the brick and concrete monument, and that it would be safer, and more cost effective to take down the old monument and replace it with a Natural Stone Monument that would be there for generations to come. The front has the names of Summit Heros from the Honor Roll that was on the original monument, along with iconic WW2, Korea, and Vietnam images. On the back of the monument are custom etched photographs of five military servicemen, from different branches and backgrounds, representing the Heroes of their War Era.

As the Project progressed, the Elks and Legion decided that they would give the entire park a new look, and added granite benches and a Global War on Terror monument to memorialize their Summit Veterans, who bravely fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. We then designed a two sided, free standing monument, dedicated to all U.S. Military branches, with a custom etched map highlighting where they fought.
