Cloquet Veterans Memorial Wall and Plaza, MN

From Concept to Reality

The community of Cloquet, MN, decided that it needed to upgrade its existing Veterans Park to honor its community’s veterans that served their country, from WWl and all theatres of war to present day. That is when the idea of a new Memorial Wall for Veteran’s Park in Cloquet, started to take shape.

Not only did they envision an area where families could come together for community events, but a place that would also serve as an historical timeline for its community’s veterans by viewing Cloquet’s story and history for generations to come.

During consultations with The City of Cloquet, City Engineers and SEH Landscape Architects, council had the chance to see what the finished project would look like through multiple visual renderings. With over 300 photos, multiple theatres of war, strict design and dimensional parameters, 13 versions were submitted, and the final layout was approved. Capturing each theatre of war, branch of military, memory, location, and personal photographs from these honored veterans, it was a true representation of lives lived and memories forever etched in stone.

This wall would serve as the focal point for the Park as well as the entrance for the park. Highlighting each branch of the military and the city’s name, were water jet cut letters and insignias, cut from Black Granite slabs using CNC technology.

Educating Future Generations Through Veterans Parks

This Veterans Memorial Park was designed with families, and veterans’ accessibility in mind, allowing for young and old to take advantage of the park, both in terms of areas of reflection, paths for walking and cycling, facilities and most importantly, this symbolic veterans memorial. Remembering our fallen and paying tribute to those currently serving. These community members who made a difference, will never be forgotten.
